Dance Canvas Choreography Showcase

Dear Reader,

            I am more than happy to announce that I have been one of only eight selected to participate in Dance Canvas’ Choreography Showcase for the 2019-2020 season.  Dance Canvas is a non-profit organization working to broaden the notoriety of professional dance in Atlanta by providing venues, opportunities, and connections to up and coming dance artists.  The purpose of their choreography showcase is to offer emerging choreographers, such as myself, with a professional space to have their work produced and seen by influential people in the industry. As the youngest person selected to create a work this season, I have no doubt Dance Canvas will connect me with others who may help to launch my career forward and offer me invaluable information that will surely aid my growth. 

While I have danced all my life, I began choreographing around five years ago and with every year I have worked diligently to refine my creative voice while keeping my works unique and engaging to the audience.  After years of choreographing on my peers, this is my first opportunity to work with people who I have not known beforehand.   As someone who has been on both sides, as a dancer and as a choreographer, I have a clear understanding of how crucial it is to value my dancers, their time, and the commitment they are making to bring my vision to life.  In order to thank them for all they will give me during the next six months, I would love to be able to compensate them at the end of this experience. If you are able to donate, your donation would go towards the compensation of the dancers, costuming materials, so that my full vision may be realized, and marketing materials, so I may spread the word of the premier of my new work as effectively as possible.  Any size donation would help me in reaching my goals and thank you in advance if you choose to do so.
